UNIT 14: CH 16.2: CRIMINAL PROFILING
Criminal profiling has been studied as early as the 1800's. It now has become an essential component to criminal investigations. A trained profiler will use the data gathered by crime scene investigators, interviews with victims, and examination of the crime scene itself to create a profile of the criminal.
At first, profilers studied physical characteristics of criminals to evaluate the probability of a person becoming a criminal. However, as forensic psychology progressed and developed, new techniques and systems for studying criminal behavior were developed. In this unit, you will study the steps taken to create an effective criminal profile.
