UNIT 10: CH 9: TOXICOLOGY
Toxins are natural substances that are poisonous and can cause harm or death to humans. Most toxins are produced by particular plants, animals, or bacteria. Other toxins come from heavy metals, pesticides, and controlled substances. Organic toxins can interfere with the individual's metabolism, affecting their behavior and depressing the nervous system. Others, like bacteria, can cause muscle paralysis as well.
In this unit, you will learn how to identify these toxins and their affects, as well as the methods used to test for these substances.
